Sewers for Scotland 2nd Edition was released in November 2007 and updates the original version, Sewers for Scotland. There is close alignment with Sewers for Adoption 6th Edition but Scotland has taken an important step ahead of England and Wales in terms of SUDS. In a significant change from Sewers for Scotland, Scottish Water have agreed to adopt SUD systems.

SUD systems provide attenuation and treatment of surface water. Recent flooding events and the effects of climate change on rainfall patterns have highlighted the increasing importance of integrated surface water drainage.
