The Sequential Test is designed to identify the best locations for a new development:

• Based on flood zones:

• Zone 1 less than 1 in 1000 (low probability)
• Zone 2 river: 1 in 100 and 1 in 1000 (medium probability)
sea: 1 in 200 and 1 in 1000
• Zone 3a river: greater than 1 in 100 (high probability)
sea: greater than 1 in 200
• Zone 3b - the functional floodplain

• Draws upon findings of Strategic Flood Risk Assessments (SFRAs):

• SFRAs serve to refine probability evaluations
• Climate change must be taken into account
• Existing SFRAs must be reviewed in the light of PPS25
