Case Study: Thatcham

This case study will examine the lessons learned following the flooding in the Berkshire town of Thatcham last year. Aidan Millerick and Stuart Clark will use the flood flow modelling and surface water management functions within WinDes W.11 to recreate the events in a remarkable visual model, with discussion on how the deluge could have been mitigated or avoided.

By contrast with Thatcham, the sustainable systems now in place at Upton may prove more successful in controlling the flood waters and minimising damage to key infrastructure resources. Peter Coombs and Steve Ball will use WinDes W.11 to model the systems involved, and show how they could have helped in the Thatcham case.
