Training Course C:
Graphical Design, Auditing and Overland Flood Flow Paths
A course designed to help engineers release the full productive power of WinDes®.
Who will benefit? All engineers designing or checking drainage networks for compliance with SFA, the Interim Code of Practice for SUDS, the Code for Sustainable Homes, Climate Change and Exceedance. A good practical knowledge of Win Des is required.
What will they learn? The future is a key aspect of this course, which covers climate change and the requirement to check for higher return periods. Engineers will work with the 2D and 3D graphical capabilities of Win Des to illustrate flood flow paths for exceedance, as well as learning how to draw and audit complete drainage systems for compliance.
Key Topics WinDes functions covered include:
· Graphical model building
- Design multiple drainage networks
- Check for crossings and clashings
- Identify sink points
· Auditing to comply with current standards to identify:
- Critical storm durations
- No flooding for 30 year return period
- Identify indicative flood flow paths for extreme return periods, account for climate change
· Auditing to the Interim Code of Practice for SUDS & Code for Sustainable Homes:
- Check greenfield runoff rates
- Check Greenfield volume balance
· Testing for exceedance:
- Identify depth, direction and velocity of overland flood flow routing
The course combines tutorials and training notes with hands-on exercises and tutor-led worked examples. |
